There’s nothing better than a Super Bowl house party, Right?

Family, friends and food, lots and lots of food; so, on Sunday, February 3rd, 2019, crack open the vino and start enjoying the game.

Here are our team of sommeliers party suggestions:

 Ravine Vineyard Estate Winery

Merlot

Steak Sliders a perfect match for Super Bowl Sunday alongside this wine., try a hanger or skirt steak in slider form.

 Sauvignon Blanc

Nachos matter how you make these, Sauvignon Blanc is a great choice.

Cabernet Franc

Turkey Chili excellent choice with the reduced tannins and high acidity in this Cabernet Franc. Furthermore, Cabernet Franc pairs very well with oregano and cumin as well as tomatoes, red bell peppers, and pinto beans, all components to a chili recipe.

London Born Wine Co.

Viognier

Buffalo Chicken Wings this game day favourite calls for off-dry whites and fruit-forward wines to balance the heat from buffalo sauce.

Pinot Meunier

Light-bodied, fruity, and fresh with minimal tannins, Gamay is a versatile red, make nachos with virtually any topping—chicken, black beans, cheese, and a few hot peppers—and serve alongside a chilled Gamay.

Cabernet Franc

Pepperoni is a robust flavour because of the fat content; it imbues its character throughout the cheese on every pizza slice. You’ll need a robust wine with intense flavours to counterbalance ‘the pepperoni effect,’ and Cabernet Franc is surprisingly good.

 King’s Court Estate Winery

Pinot Grigio

The crispness here goes well with the salty and sweet aspects of an Onion/Ranch Dip

Princess Rosé

Rosé’s crispness and red fruit flavours make it a favourite pairing with a fresh Tomato Based Salsa

Pinot Noir

The smokiness and sweetness of the barbeque sauce will pair perfectly with the fruitiness of a Pinot Noir. Its light body and fine tannins will work beautifully with a Barbeque Chicken Pizza without overpowering it.

 Konzelmann Estate Winery

Cuve Close Sparkling

It wouldn’t be football without wings. Fried chicken and sparkling might sound like an odd combo, but it is a tried and true pairing that couldn’t be more perfect together.

Pinot Noir

There’s nothing easier to throw together during halftime than a simple bowl of salted and buttered popcorn.

Shiraz

Big Beefy Stews especially ones cooked in wine or with a touch of smoky spice like chili.

 Konzelmann Estate Winery

Pinot Grigio

Be it guacamole, cheese, artichoke or onion dip a crisp Pinot Grigio is an ideal pairing. Given the salty, vibrant nature of most dips and the chips or snacks that get dunked in, this white wine with bright notes is one of my favourite matches.

Canada White

Riesling will temper the fire of these hot wings nicely, without leaving you feeling deflated.

Merlot

Hearty, meaty Beef chili is always a good idea on a brisk February evening. The sweet & savoury flavours are sure to be a conversation starter at your Super Bowl party. Primarily if you serve it alongside this Merlot.
