With the festive Christmas season just around the corner, people are busy looking for things to make their celebrations sweeter and more delightful. And what better way to do that than stocking rich aromatic, flavorful wines to jazz up to the spirited holiday? The wide range of flavours makes wine the perfect match for all kinds of festivities.

Christmas and Wines

Want to have a vibrant, full-of-life Christmas party? Serve dry wine with a smoky finish to jolt your guests into a party mood. Wish to hold an elegant dinner gathering for family and friends? Pair the meal with a bottle of sweet, fruity wine to spread a snuggly warm vibe throughout the soirée. Suffice to say, there is always a wine for every occasion. While that’s a significant plus for wines, it can make choosing the perfect bottle a bit of a pickle. Keeping that in mind, we decided to share a list of delectable wines for Christmas to help you pick out the best one for you.

Rose

The blush-coloured Rose is well known as a backyard party beverage, and rightly so! Its juicy, citrusy taste with a touch of floral notes makes it an excellent match for Christmas. And if Rose’s sugary goodness is a bit much for you, you can go with the dry variety to enjoy an herby, spicy flavour.

Riesling

Riesling is an aromatic white grape blend with a flavour spectrum ranging from bitter to extra sweet. It generally pairs with spicy foods because of its fruitiness that tames the hotness and acidity that leaves the palate fresh. Riesling’s richness of flavour makes it a lovely addition to every Christmas dinner table.

Syrah

Syrah, aka Shiraz, is a dark red wine with solid tannins and a smoked finish. Packed with juicy, bacon-y, herby flavour tones, Syrah goes well with all kinds of meat. If you plan to serve a meaty dinner this Christmas, you should consider keeping a bottle of Syrah close by.

Sparkling Wines

As the name suggests, sparkling wines are fizzy drinks made with red or white grapes. They have a broad flavour palate. However, the most popular variety is Brut, dry wine with sweetness. Sweet sparkling wines are also a popular choice, especially when eating dessert.
