Fogolar Wines 2019 Riesling

$14.95

An exciting balance of sweetness and acidity is the base from with aromas of lime, peach, and white flowers burst in this fun yet powerful Riesling. Chill this wine and enjoy!

Winemaking Notes:

Fruit from select Niagara vineyards was both hand-picked, and machine harvested before being destemmed and gently pressed. Started fermentation with non-Saccharomyces species before being inoculated with select Saccharomyces yeast strains. One fermentation was arrested partway through fermentation to preserve a large portion of residual sugar and lock in aromatic intensity. The other controlled with a small amount of sugar remaining before blending both parts.

It's a heck of a Riesling for the price, with a nose of white peach, lime, lemon blossom, and crisp apple notes; it's off-dry on the palate but nicely balanced with bright acidity to go with ripe peach, nectarine, lime, grapefruit, honey and apple notes.

What cheese goes best with Riesling? The answer is: many! An off-dry Riesling is an aromatic white wine with a hint of sweetness that goes very well with pungent washed-rind cheeses like Munster, Morbier, Raclette, Taleggio and Livarot. This type of cheese is usually robust and intense with a semi-soft texture. The sweetness and the acidity in the wine will balance the intense flavours in the cheese.
